Is Tergrid, God of Fright a Game Changer?

Yes. Tergrid, God of Fright is on the official Wizards of the Coast Commander Game Changers list. Every permanent opponents sacrifice or discard goes to your battlefield instead.

Why is Tergrid, God of Fright a Game Changer?

Tergrid, God of Fright takes every permanent any opponent sacrifices or discards and puts it onto the battlefield under your control. Paired with edict effects or mass discard, that is not removal — it is theft on a scale that ends games and leaves opponents watching their own decks played against them. It is one of the most commonly cited "unfun" cards in the format, and the bracket system's whole purpose is to let players say in advance whether that is the game they want.

What bracket can I play Tergrid, God of Fright in?

  • Bracket 1 & 2 — not allowed. A single copy of Tergrid, God of Fright puts your deck above Core.
  • Bracket 3 (Upgraded) — allowed, and it counts as one of your three permitted Game Changers.
  • Bracket 4 & 5 — no limit, so it costs you nothing here.

This applies whether Tergrid, God of Fright is in your 99 or in the command zone. Not sure how many you are running in total? Run your decklist through the analyzer — it flags every Game Changer it finds and shows the resulting bracket.
