Is Braids, Cabal Minion a Game Changer?

Yes. Braids, Cabal Minion is on the official Wizards of the Coast Commander Game Changers list. Forces every opponent to sacrifice a permanent every turn — three sacrifices per round to your one.

Why is Braids, Cabal Minion a Game Changer?

Braids is a three-mana creature that taxes the entire table asymmetrically. Each opponent sacrifices a permanent on their upkeep; you do not. In a four-player game that is three permanents leaving the battlefield per turn cycle against your zero, and the player who deployed her first is the one best positioned to rebuild. Left unanswered for even two rotations, Braids produces the kind of grinding, resource-starved game that many players specifically want to opt out of — which is exactly what the Game Changers list is for.

What bracket can I play Braids, Cabal Minion in?

  • Bracket 1 & 2 — not allowed. A single copy of Braids, Cabal Minion puts your deck above Core.
  • Bracket 3 (Upgraded) — allowed, and it counts as one of your three permitted Game Changers.
  • Bracket 4 & 5 — no limit, so it costs you nothing here.

This applies whether Braids, Cabal Minion is in your 99 or in the command zone. Not sure how many you are running in total? Run your decklist through the analyzer — it flags every Game Changer it finds and shows the resulting bracket.
