Why is Thassa's Oracle a Game Changer?

Thassa's Oracle is the most-played win condition in competitive Commander. Two mana, and with an empty or nearly empty library its enters-the-battlefield trigger simply wins the game. Paired with Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact the combo is two cards, costs four mana in total, and resolves at instant speed with the win happening on a trigger rather than a spell — so most counterspells arrive too late. A two-card, four-mana, instant-speed win is close to the definition of a Game Changer.

What bracket can I play Thassa's Oracle in?

  • Bracket 1 & 2 — not allowed. A single copy of Thassa's Oracle puts your deck above Core.
  • Bracket 3 (Upgraded) — allowed, and it counts as one of your three permitted Game Changers.
  • Bracket 4 & 5 — no limit, so it costs you nothing here.
