Yes. The One Ring is on the official Wizards of the Coast Commander Game Changers list. A turn of total protection, then an escalating draw engine in any deck, of any colour.

Why is The One Ring a Game Changer?

The One Ring gives you protection from everything for a turn — surviving any board wipe or lethal attack — and then draws an escalating number of cards each upkeep for a life cost that scarcely matters at forty. It is colourless, so every deck in the format can play it regardless of identity, which is unusual for a card this strong. Protection plus unbounded card advantage on one four-mana artifact available to all 100 colour identities is exactly the kind of universal power level the list is meant to flag.

What bracket can I play The One Ring in?

  • Bracket 1 & 2 — not allowed. A single copy of The One Ring puts your deck above Core.
  • Bracket 3 (Upgraded) — allowed, and it counts as one of your three permitted Game Changers.
  • Bracket 4 & 5 — no limit, so it costs you nothing here.
