The EDHcheck Pack Simulator is live. You can now crack any MTG booster set directly in your browser — no account, no cost, no waiting.
It loads Marvel Super Heroes with a Collector Booster × 3 preselected, which felt right given how wild that set has been at the tables lately. Select any set and any pack type, then tear it open.
What's in the simulator
Real card pools. Cards come directly from the Scryfall API, so every set you see in the selector is a real set with real cards. Prices update from Scryfall too, which means the estimated values you see reflect current market rates — not static cached numbers.
All booster types. The simulator supports Play Boosters, Draft Boosters, Set Boosters (for older sets), and Collector Boosters. Pack types are gated by release date: sets from February 2024 onward show Play and Collector only, which matches what Wizards actually ships. Older sets show Draft and Set Boosters where applicable.
Session stats. Every pack you open in a session feeds a running stats bar: total packs, mythics, rares, uncommons, foils, and estimated total value. If you open a box, you'll know exactly what you pulled and what it's worth.
Gallery and Pack View. After opening, switch between Gallery (all cards sorted by rarity, with hover tooltips showing oracle text and price) and Pack View (flip through cards one at a time with arrow keys).
Why this exists
Commander players crack packs for fun, for upgrades, and sometimes to justify a purchase by "running the math" first. Opening a box is exciting, and this is a way to experience that without the price tag — or to preview a set before committing to real cardboard.
It's also useful for drafters who want to get a feel for a set's rare density before a tournament, and for content creators who want to show set openings without the overhead.
What's next
The simulator currently models standard booster products. I'm working on more accurate slot modeling for specific products like the serialized cards in Collector Boosters and the bonus sheet slots some sets have. Pull data export (so you can see your session stats in a table and copy the card names) is also on the list.
