Star Trek Commander Decks: All Four Precons and Everything Revealed So Far

The four Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Commander precons (Federation Fleet, Landing Party, Klingon Fury, We Are the Borg), what is in each box, the new mechanics, prices, release dates and the Commander cards revealed so far.

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek lands on November 13, 2026, sixty years after the original series first aired, and it brings four Commander decks: Picard's Federation Fleet, Spock's Landing Party, Worf's Klingon Fury and the Borg Queen's We Are the Borg.

The decklists aren't out yet. This post collects everything that is, straight from Wizards: the four boxes, what's inside them, the mechanics they're built on and the Commander cards shown so far. The moment the lists are published, every deck goes onto our Star Trek precon page with a power level, a bracket and a Turn Clock.

The four Commander decks

Each box prints its colours and two lines about its plan under the deck name. That's the best guide to the decks until the lists are out.

Federation Fleet Commander deck box

Federation Fleet (white-blue-red), Jean-Luc Picard

Seek out card draw. Charge your starships. Jeskai card draw that powers up Spacecraft. Spacecraft and station return from Edge of Eternities: a Spacecraft starts as an artifact, gains abilities as you put charge counters on it with station, and with enough counters becomes a creature. A deck that draws a lot has plenty of spare cards to put into its ships.

Landing Party (green-white-blue), Spock

Strange new worlds. Trigger landfall. A Bant landfall deck. "Strange new worlds" is an ability word that counts the differently named lands you control, so this deck wants a varied mana base rather than a pile of basics. Christine Chapel, Combat Medic already shows how it plays: she enters and gains you life for each differently named land, then grows by two +1/+1 counters every time you gain life.

Landing Party Commander deck box

Klingon Fury (red-white-black), Worf

Show your aggression. Hit the whole battlefield. Mardu aggression that attacks every opponent at once. Of the four, it has the most direct plan, and decks like this tend to have the fastest clock in a precon pod.

We Are the Borg (white-blue-black), the Borg Queen

Grow your ranks. Assimilate the enemy. Esper Borg built on assimilate: you gain control of a creature, or put a creature card onto the battlefield under your control, and either way it gets a +1/+1 counter and becomes a Borg artifact creature. Taking the table's best creatures is a strong plan in Commander, and usually a slow, grinding one.

What's in each box

  • A ready-to-play 100-card deck with a Traditional Foil face commander in borderless art
  • 32 cards new to Magic in each deck
  • 10 double-sided tokens, a reference card and a deck box
  • 74.99 USD per deck

The Collector's Edition of each deck is the same 100 cards in Surge Foil, with Surge Foil tokens, at 159.99 USD.

The Commander cards are in their own set, TRC, which is legal in Commander, Legacy and Vintage.

Commander cards revealed so far

Captain Kirk, Boldly Going, {1}{G}{W}{U}, 3/4 vigilance, mythic. Spacecraft creatures you control get +3/+3, and whenever he enters or attacks you search your library or graveyard for a basic land or a card named Starship Enterprise. He's a green-white-blue legend, the same colours as Landing Party, and finding a land on every attack keeps the land drops coming for landfall.

Christine Chapel, Combat Medic, {3}{G}, rare. A strange new worlds card: life for each differently named land, then +1/+1 counters every time you gain life.

The face commanders themselves haven't been shown as cards yet.

New mechanics to know

  • Assimilate: take a creature or put one onto the battlefield; it gets a +1/+1 counter and becomes a Borg artifact creature.
  • Face a dilemma: triggers whenever a player chooses one or more modes for a spell or ability. Any choice counts.
  • Federation: an ability word that cares about how many creature types you have among your non-Borg creatures.
  • Spacecraft and station: artifacts you charge up with counters until they become creatures.

The rest of the set

Seven Star Trek actors hand-signed the set's headliner cards, about 250 copies of each, found only in Collector Boosters. There are 30 stardates cards: reprints with Star Trek art, like Sheoldred, the Apocalypse as Khan. All ten shock lands are in the set with an LCARS frame. There are also two Scene Boxes, Enterprise-Q and Divergent Timeline, and a Beam Me Up Bundle with Spacecraft schematic promos.

Dates

  • Prerelease: November 6–12
  • MTG Arena: November 10
  • Tabletop release: November 13, 2026
  • Commander Party: November 20–26 and December 11–17, with Highly Illogical and Munitions Enthusiast promos for Commander event players

What we'll do when the decklists drop

The Star Trek precon page is already live. When Wizards publishes the lists, all four decks go on it with:

  • a power level and WotC bracket for each,
  • the Turn Clock: how fast each deck clears the table when nobody interacts,
  • every combo Commander Spellbook knows about,
  • the full 100-card list, ready to load into the deck builder and upgrade.

Planning ahead for 2027? Our Marvel: Darkhold Destiny post covers the next set of four.
